Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle High School was honored to be featured on KOMO News' ARC Seattle, highlighting our mission, our students, and the incredible impact of our Corporate Work Study Program

We are grateful to the KOMO News team for the opportunity to share our story and to Principal Dr. Nadia Guy and Student Associate Meron K. ’28 for representing our community in conversation with co-anchor Tyrah Majors. Their thoughtful discussion brought to life what makes Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle unique: a model of education rooted in access, opportunity, and real-world experience.

Located in the Rainier Beach neighborhood, Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle opened with its inaugural class in 2024 and is part of the national Cristo Rey network. Our school combines a rigorous, Jesuit college-preparatory education with a distinctive Corporate Work Study Program that places students in professional roles one day each week. Through this model, students gain early exposure to careers across a wide range of industries, including healthcare, technology, and business.

During the segment, Meron K. ’28 reflected on his experience working with Costco through the Corporate Work Study Program, offering a firsthand look at how students are building professional skills while still in high school. From communication and collaboration to confidence in navigating workplace environments, these experiences are shaping students’ futures in meaningful ways.

Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle Principal Dr. Nadia Guy and student Meron K. '28 talk with Tyrah Majors of KOMO News

Dr. Nadia Guy shared how this approach extends beyond academics. At Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle, education is not only about preparing students for college, but also about equipping them for lifelong success. By engaging in professional environments now, students are able to imagine and pursue pathways that might otherwise feel out of reach.

This opportunity to visit the KOMO News studio also provided a memorable behind-the-scenes experience for our students and staff. We are thankful for the warm welcome extended to our community and for the care taken to highlight our students’ voices with authenticity and respect.

This feature is a powerful example of what happens when student stories are elevated and shared with a broader audience. We are grateful to KOMO News and ARC Seattle for helping amplify the impact of our mission and for uplifting the experiences of Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle students.

We invite you to read the full written story behind the segment and learn more about our Corporate Work Study Program and its impact on our students.
