CRJS & Key to Change: A Partnership in Harmony

CRJS violin students at the Key to Change Solo String Festival at Benaroya Hall

Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle launched an exciting partnership with Key to Change, a nonprofit string studio rooted in South King County, bringing high-quality violin instruction to our campus during their elective period, called Magis.

The pilot residency quickly reached full enrollment, with twelve students signing up and a waitlist forming almost immediately. During Magis, students receive daily group violin instruction from Key to Change teaching artists Dr. Quinton Morris, Dr. Natasha Kubit, and Analisa Ruiz, building musical skill alongside confidence, discipline, and community.

“CRJS students have made immense progress,” shared Dr. Natasha Kubit.

After just two months of instruction, students performed at the Key to Change Solo String Festival at Benaroya Hall on March 28. They participated in a workshop with Johnaye Kendrick, who composed a piece specifically for them.

Rooted in shared values of equity and whole-student development, this partnership reflects our commitment to educating the whole person. We are grateful to Key to Change for walking alongside our students and helping them discover their gifts, one note at a time.
