Celebrating Growth, Grit, and Great Work

Amethyst, who spent the year working with JLL, shared how her view of success has evolved:

“I used to think success was promotions and titles. Now I believe success is making a meaningful impact in my work.”

Her experience underscores the importance of finding purpose and making a difference in one's professional endeavors.

Jonathan, who interned at Costco, shared his own breakthrough:

“I used to think working an office job would be an extremely hard task, but now I think that if you receive proper training from more experienced coworkers, you can accomplish a lot more.”

His experience highlights the power of mentorship and the benefits of learning from seasoned professionals.

And Priscilla, who worked at the iconic Space Needle, offered a valuable lesson in resilience:

“I used to think I had to know everything from day 1, but now I know it’s ok to learn as you go.”

Her insight is a beautiful reminder that being open to growth is a continuous process, and not only a Grad at Grad value in school, but it’s also a professional superpower!

These reflections are just a glimpse into the rich, real-world learning our students experience every week. The Showcase was more than a year-end celebration; it was a powerful demonstration of how Cristo Rey students are not only learning—they're adapting, and thriving, in addition, it highlighted the transformative impact of the Corporate Work Study Program on their lives and futures. Thank you all who make this work possible.

The Corporate Work Study Program is a defining pillar of Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle’s model. Each student works one full day per week throughout the academic year in a professional setting, earning a significant portion of the cost of their private education. This unique model not only helps make a Cristo Rey education accessible but also prepares students with the social fluency, technical skills, and confidence they need to succeed in college, career, and beyond.
