Draft Day Video Released!
Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle’s Inaugural Draft Day on August 28 was an electric event where students, faculty, parents, and work study partners came together to celebrate the start of students’ corporate work-study (CWS) placements. Modeled after professional sports drafts, CWS Draft Day matched students with their work placement for the year. Student associates learned where they would work one day a week throughout the school year. It was a powerful moment of community and partnership that highlighted our students’ hard work after their 3-week intensive summer training program. It was also a show of leadership of our Founding Partner’s community investment to the talent pipeline of tomorrow in Puget Sound.
We are proud to share this video highlighting the event—it captures the excitement that flooded Seattle University’s Pigott Auditorium that afternoon.
The sea of pom-poms and boom sticks were a visible expression of many years of invisible work making the dream of a Cristo Rey school in Seattle a reality.
Though the pomp of the Brass Animals Marching Band and the roar of the crowd has faded, the energy of Draft Day pulses through our students’ veins and in their work placements from Issaquah to South Lake Union to Mountlake Terrace to SeaTac. We hope you enjoy reliving the day and share widely! Enjoy...
