Introducing our Jesuit Volunteers

Introducing our Jesuit Volunteers

The Jesuit Volunteer Corps is an organization that places young leaders in service to marginalized communities in the US and other countries. Volunteers in the JVC Northwest serve full-time with local organizations while living in community with other program members. Volunteers spend a year in the program, learning valuable leadership skills while helping organizations that need it.

Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle welcomed two Jesuit volunteers in mid-August. Kyle Hackett and Anna Grillo joined the team to support academics and campus ministry, though their talents are already being used in every department!

Anna graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.A. in history and minors in Chinese and European studies. She has experience serving others in her community both as a professional and a volunteer. Anna volunteered at the Dowd Center in Columbus teaching violin to at-risk elementary and middle school students and at FirstTee Ohio teaching gold and self-talk to young girls. At Notre Dame she was largely involved with the Raclin Murphy Museum of Art as a tour guide and gallery teacher. She also volunteered at the Robinson Community Learning Center as a school tutor.

Anna’s time at Notre Dame and her service experience drew her to the mission of CRJS. Her alignment with JVC Northwest’s core values and desire to follow Notre Dame’s motto to “be a force for good in the world” have fostered her passion for education based in spirituality and cultivating a strong community that seeks to support and uplift all people, regardless of background.

Anna finds joy spending time with family and friends. As an amateur photographer, she is looking forward to exploring Seattle and the surrounding area. She can often be found reading, crocheting, baking, or playing golf.

Kyle is a graduate of Boston College with a B.A. in environmental studies. He recently graduated in the spring of 2024 and looks forward to working in his first professional role. Kyle was involved in many different clubs and activities in college, including orientation leader for incoming students, tour guide for prospective students, retreat leader, and much more.

Kyle is drawn to the CRJS mission because he believes education has been the biggest blessing in his life, and as a result he is dedicated to providing the same opportunity for other students. He was introduced to a Jesuit education in college and fell in love with the style of teaching and formation. Because this experience was so impactful for him, he seeks to introduce students to the same growth and joy he has found.

Kyle loves to spend time with his friends and family, ski, follow Boston sports, listen to music, and explore new places.

Join us in giving Anna and Kyle a warm welcome to the CRJS community!
