Meet CRJS's New Outreach & Enrollment Director Sullivan Shaw!

We are thrilled to welcome Sullivan as Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle’s new Director of Outreach & Enrollment—a role for which he is uniquely prepared. A seasoned educator and leader, Sullivan brings nearly two decades of experience in Catholic and public schools across Seattle. But his journey also brings him full circle: he began his teaching career right here on the CRJS campus, at St. Paul School, under the mentorship of beloved Catholic educator Wayne Melonson.

Since those early days, Sullivan has served in a wide range of roles—as a teacher, coach, Athletic Director, Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal—at schools including Bishop Blanchet High School, Billings Middle School, Hazelwood Elementary, Brier Elementary, and Seattle Public Schools' Interagency Academy, where he led multiple campuses supporting youth facing significant barriers, including incarceration and homelessness.

Sullivan holds a B.S. in Sports Management from Wayne State College, as well as a master’s in teaching and Principal Certification from Seattle Pacific University. Prior to education, he worked in finance as an Account Manager for TD Waterhouse and earned his Series 7 and Series 63 licenses. But his calling has always been education rooted in equity and access.

“As the first in my family to attend college,” Sullivan says, “I understand how life-changing it can be to have access to educational opportunities. It’s my goal to remove barriers for students and families who don’t typically have access—and provide students with the chance to change their lives. I was drawn to CRJS’s commitment to forming 'people for others' and to the powerful blend of academic rigor, spiritual grounding, and real-world work experience."

Sullivan and his wife Jenell Kheriaty, former Assistant Principal for Academics at Seattle Prep, are proud parents to two children: Isaiah, a sophomore at Prep, and Gianna, who just delivered the Commencement Address as a distinguished graduate of the Class of 2025—and is soon headed to Notre Dame.

When he’s not meeting with families or championing the mission of Cristo Rey, you’ll likely find Sullivan enjoying time with his family, watching or coaching sports, walking his giant Bernese Mountain Dog Baker through the neighborhood, or cheering on his longtime favorite team, the Chicago Bears.

President Paul Hogan has this to say about Sullivan Shaw:

Sullivan brings a unique combination of skills, experience, and personal qualities to this position. He is a man of faith who started his teaching career at St. Paul’s, and moved on to positions as a vice principal in both the Catholic and public high school worlds. In addition, Sullivan is engaging, charismatic, and deeply committed to our students and the Cristo Rey Jesuit mission. We feel fortunate that he said yes to this holy adventure!

Please join us in giving Sullivan a heartfelt CRJS welcome. We’re grateful for the wisdom, warmth, and lived commitment to our mission that he brings to this work.
